Junya got out of the Land Rover and placed some coins in the payphone. His $200.00 windfall from Lani allotted him to use up the spare change he had in his pocket.
"Hello...Khevasiah?" Junya asked into the phone.
"Where are you Junya, you know I miss you..."
Junya stayed silent for a moment. He looked down, then he looked
around, then thought of what to say to Khevasiah.
"I...I am near where you said you would be...I should be there in a
minute..."
"How did you know where I was? I never told you where I was! Now
you know New York all of a sudden...where are you at?" Khevasiah said with a
chuckle.
"I am right down the street from the building you said you was going to
be at. What floor are you on?"
Khevasiah busted out laughing. She could not believe that Junya made it
to where she was on his own. Khevasiah never gave Junya the directions, she
anticipated he would have simply drove back to Connecticut and waited for her
at the train station in the morning.
"Hold on a minute baby..." Khevasiah clicked over on her phone. Junya
twiddled his feet and hands as he waited for Khevasiah to get back on the phone.
Junya looked up, down the beautifully lit walk as the night was well into. He
noticed a light skinned woman step outside of the building where he was
waiting; it looked like Khevasiah.
"Khevasiah! Khevasiah! Junya dropped the receiver on the phone as he
yelled from down the street. The bells and horns of the busy streets drowned out
Junya.s voice. Junya saw the woman go back into the building. Junya ran down
to get a closer look, and realized that it was not Khevasiah; it was another
woman, just as beautiful. As Junya turned back to the payphone, he noticed
another female; Naika. The same black skinned woman that was inside the club
with Khevasiah. Junya ran back to the payphone, and noticed that Khevasiah
had hung up.
Junya started to contemplate his next move. He figured last time, when
he yelled out in the street for his woman, he only embarrassed himself as she
jumped in that white stretch truck and watched it speed off. If he called Naika
out in the street this time of night, he was sure to scare her off. Junya walked
slowly as he crossed the street to the side where the building Naika left was. He
walked up and noticed a man wearing a uniform was standing outside. The
building was actually an expensive apartment complex, where a doorman stood
outside. Junya saw Naika slide into the seats of a fancy luxury vehicle; a
Mercedes Benz, and held the rear passenger door open. Junya placed his hands
in his pockets and walked faster to see who else was in the car. He noticed that
there was a man in the driver.s seat; he did not wear a uniform. The man looked
rather burly; his jewelry gleamed through the light tints in the windows, and his
silhouette took up the majority of the front seat. With the car door open, a light
showed little of what was going on. Junya kept walking so he wouldn.t draw
any suspicion to himself.
He walked into the building where he saw Naika come
out, and approached the doorman.
"May I help you this evening sir?" The doorman said. He was a short
white man with white hair sticking out of a navy blue hat. His overcoat looked
worn, as if he had been the doorman for a while.
"I am looking for the party! Junya said with a smirk on his face. I am
supposed to meet my wife, but she did not leave the suite number, and I am sure
she will not get reception for her cellular phone.
"Ah, you must be speaking of the party of a young Mr. Halftime, I
presume...there has been quite a disturbance of their party this evening. In fact,
the majority of the patrons have scattered. The last of them are in Suite 134 B."
The man said.
