The Hispanic man paused before he responded to Junya's question. The
man looked up the street, then down the street, then he walked towards the rear
of the vehicle.
"Is this your car?" The man asked Junya.
Junya recognized that the man was being very inquisitive about Junya.
Here he was in the front of the same club that showed him no respect from when
him and Khevasiah had first got there, now one of who seemed to be the nicest of
the security was playing police. He either recognized that the SUV had been
sitting outside of the club, and now it was occupied, or he recognized it as
belonging to Khevasiah.
"What do you mean, is this my car?"
"Well, excuse me for being intrusive, but were you not the gentleman
from the other night?"
"Yea, I am the same guy..." Junya responded simply.
"I though...oh, never mind."
"What?"
"You are in a no parking area. You cannot park here until after 8:00pm.
Can you move your vehicle, sir?" The Hispanic man said. He then turned his
back and walked back inside of the club.
Junya was very suspicious of the Hispanic mans actions. At first, the
Hispanic man ran up on him like he had busted shots at the club or something!
Once he recognized Junya, he acted surprised. Junya put the SUV in gear and
drove down to the coffee shop. It did not open until 11:00pm. Junya then hit a
u-turn and parked across the street next to the pay phone he used earlier. This
time, instead of rolling the windows down and cranking the music, Junya kept
the engine running, with the windows up, and the music loud enough for him to
hear it. Junya noticed the club door open, and the same Hispanic man, this time,
accompanied with the other bouncer that gave Junya trouble at the door, were
pointing across the street at the Land Rover.
The bouncer started to run across
the street, but the Hispanic man held him back and pulled him inside. The
Hispanic man then got on his cellular phone as he let the club.s door close
behind him. Junya started to grow a bit concerned, considering that the Land
Rover did belong to his girlfriend, but his girlfriend.s whereabouts were
unknown. Junya jumped out of the vehicle from the passenger side, and dialed
Khevasiah.s cellular phone number.
The answering machine picked up again,
but this time Junya left a message:
"Khevasiah, where are you? I have been looking for you, I have not been
able to get a hold of you. I got your note and I am in your truck right now. I will
try you back in an hour, okay. I love you, bye"
When Junya hung up the phone, he saw the Hispanic man look outside of
the club door; half cracked, so that no one would notice. Junya began to reason
the phone being busy due to the Hispanic man calling her simultaneously with
Junya.s calling her. When Khevasiah.s phone was busy, the voicemail instantly
picked up. Junya got back into the truck and turned the radio down to see a
woman driving by the club slowly.
The woman was in a BMW similar to the one
that Lani was driving earlier. Junya beeped the horn, and the woman.s brake
lights came on. She made an immediate left turn into a narrow driveway, then
turned around to parallel the yellow vehicle from the opposite side of the street.
"Is that you rolling like that?" Lani yelled out of her driver.s side
window.
"A likle sumtin." Junya responded.
"Are you by yourself? Or you got all your boys rolling with you?"
"Nah, it.s just me dalin. Shall I follow?" Junya asked as he signaled in the
direction that Lani was driving.
"You think I came out here for you to just look at me?" Lani shouted.
Lani then rolled the window up, and proceeded to drive off. Junya pulled out
into the road, and turned around in the same direction as Lani. Junya looked in
the side rearview window on the passenger side and saw the Hispanic man run
outside the club, also with the bouncer, to look at the SUV driving away.
