The lighting in the club made it hard to determine whether they were hers or not, but the woman was very beautiful: beautiful women always hang out together, Junya had confirmed. "So what brings you back to the city?" Naika asked right after her swallow of the sharp tasting beverage. "Wooh! This some good shit right here, that.s you like that, go head girl, I knew you would hold it down like the old days!" "You know how I roll girl, ha ha!" Khevasiah said with a cheesy smile on her face. The bottle seemed large, but Junya could tell that Khevasiah was feeling the effects of the wine. She would get real energetic when she was juiced up and her homegirls were around. "You remember what.s his name...Doug Mac Arthur?"
"With the...he had that gold Lexus back in the days, right? With those
rims that would spin, woow, woow, woow! Ha! I remember that fat mother
fucker! What he up to these days?" Naika pointed her finger and did her hand
in a turning motion when she spoke about the man.s rims. She must have been
drinking from earlier, because both of the women seemed equally juiced. Up
until this point, Junya had not known the name of the man that Khevasiah was
supposed to meet.
"I.m in town to do a photo shoot with him. He is launching a magazine
and he wants me for the cover. I told him that I would go ahead. That cheap ass
nigga, would not even buy me a plane ticket, so I agreed to meet him in Jersey.
He is supposed to be meeting with some clients here, but I have not moved
around yet to look for him."
"Well come on girl, why you sitting with this nigga here for?" Naika said
as she leaned closer to Khevasiah. Naika knew Khevasiah, and knew that she
was a very private person, especially when it came to her relationships. Blowing
her spot with Junya was not appropriate for her to have done, so she spoke in a
lower tone.
Khevasiah turned away from Junya.s direction.
"Who those niggas back there?" Khevasiah whispered, with her pinky
finger pointed in the direction of the brothers in the back of the VIP.
"Oh them, that.s that rapper...Halftime, and his crew. He just went
platinum! They is over there straight, balling girl! We need to make our way
over there! Some of my brother friends is over there, so we good...c.mon, leave
him here, he will be alright, right? I mean...I don't want to interfere with what
ya.ll got going on, you know!" Naika rolled her eyes as she finished her
statement. She was very judgmental about Junya.s character. He was there with
no homeboys, he had not bought a drink, and his prized jean suit was out of style
in comparison to some of the clubber.s flyer styles. Naika.s gold tooth sparkled
as she cackled away with Khevasiah.
Her obdurate choice of trunk gold earrings
and rope chain sat proud on her person. Junya was feeling the odd man out, so
he got up and proceeded to the bar.
"Bay, where you going?" Khevasiah said with the utmost sharpness.
"To the bar right quick...soon come back."
"Take your time, this is a big club...go on baby, have a little fun! Maybe
dance up on one of them Jamaican girls you love so much!"
"Aaight, I get you...see ya.ll later."
Junya caught the drift from his woman and proceeded down the stairs to
intermingle with some of the rest of the party goers. As Junya passed the second
story, he fell hostage to the eyes of a myriad amount of beautiful women; only
wishing they were allowed to enter into the VIP section of the club. He
proceeded down the stairs and made his way into the flourishing crowd on the
dance floor. The DJ had switched to an old school blend of some of rap music.s
pioneers: mixes of Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick, Awesome 2, and a Big Daddy
Kane song were among some of the joints played.
