The woman for some reason was flirting with him something fierce. He knew that he did not look too decent, and he was stranded, lost, and heart worn. Junya decided the best thing to do was to roll with the punches, and he might be able to link back up with Khevasiah. Junya was so entrenched with Lani.s charm, he placed his feelings about Khevasiah to the side; after all, she left him for dead last night. "I usually do not project myself so forward upon initial meeting someone...Lani, what do you say to us getting out of here, get freshened up?" Lani put her newspaper down and pulled the glasses down to the tip of her nose. She looked up at Junya in a seductive way, then she reached for her purse and stood up from the counter.
"As inviting as that sounds lov...I am on my way to work. Only a few
more recesses, and then this case goes into deliberation. I will be free after 7.15
tonight. Will you remember me then?" Lani said while fidgeting in her purse.
"Oh, so you are a lawyer? It seems to fit you nice...with your non
threatening yet sharp demeanor!" Junya said wittingly.
"If that is the best you can do for a compliment, you better work harder!
It is going to take more than that to win me over lov...here is my card, you have
time to think bout it, okay!" Lani said. Lani reached over to Junya and handed
him a business card with her office address and its phone number on it. Junya
noticed her cellular number was on the card as well.
"Excuse me...District Attorney is the proper title...you have to excuse my
minimal charm dalin...It is early, and a lot is rushing through my mental right
bout now...I will call you at..."
"Do not tell me when, Lani interrupted. Just make sure you call. I told
you I.m freed up at 7.15. Let me know where you will be, and I will be sure to
meet you. And do not let it be here, for this place is a dump! But the food is
alright though." Lani said with a horizontal smile expression on her face. At
that, Lani leaned over and kissed Junya on the bottom of his lips; Lani was a lot
shorter than Junya, even in her high heel shoes. She waved bye to him without
looking back, pushed the doors open of the diner, and hopped into her BMW
coupe, peeling out of the parking lot. Junya placed the business card in the chest
pocket of his jean jacket, and left the diner, watching his new friend drive off into
the congested streets of the city.
Had already eaten and called his girlfriend Khevasiah, Junya found
himself in a shit. He did not know where he was, and he was not sure if he
would be able to meet with Lani, only because knowing himself, he would have
met back up with Khevasiah and been on his way back to Connecticut. Junya
could not think of the handling of this situation in regards to how Khevasiah
thinks, because he did not know where she was, or what the fuck she was doing
that was so important she literally left him for dead outside a foreign night club.
Junya contemplated about getting to the train station and hopping the Metro
North back to New Haven, where he could link up with some of his homeboys,
and eventually come back to NYC around 5pm. It was 8:43am, and Junya was
pressed for time: he had to make moves.
Junya reached into his front pants pocket and pulled out the waad of cash
he had been contributing to throughout the NYC excursions stops.
"Twenty three...twenty four...twenty five...tw...twenty seven dollars!
That.s it!" Junya scolded to himself. "How the fuck did I spend so much money
so quick?"
Junya pulled a napkin off of the dispenser at the diner counter. In his
other pocket, he pulled out a pen. Junya usually carried more than one pen with
him: he used one for writing down little notes, phone numbers, and as a lender
in the event someone near him needed to write something down. The other pen
was dedicated solely for his writing raps.
