This floor did not rap around like the second, only it cut off where there was a champagne fountain where people were standing around and talking. More people sat in this section: couples, the group of Asians, a group of African men wearing distinctive Kente clothing, and a group of brothers in street clothes, possibly the platinum rap star. There was an elderly black man with gray knaps with his elbows leaned on a podium near the top of the third story from the stair case. Junya raised his arm to show his sticker tag. He walked over to Khevasiah.s table and sat down.
"Finally found you!" Junya said excitedly.
"Funny, I didn.t know you were looking for me." Khevasiah said relaxed.
She had been sitting there for the majority of the time since the two arrived there.
She had walked the connective way to the 2nd floor, and took the stairs to the VIP
section on the 3rd story. There was a bottle of Louis XIV brut champagne already
corked at her table, as promised by the man at the door. Khevasiah had taken off
the sticker tag and was holding a glass of the champagne in the same hand that
her diamond bracelet was around. As she did this; sparkles came from
everywhere. She was very quiet, as if she did not know who the young man who
sat down at her table was. She looked in the direction opposite of Junya, back
towards the section where those brothers were. There was a lot of laughing
coming from that section, as if they were making fun of someone. Khevasiah
looked in Junya.s direction and started to smile.
"Hi Khevasiah girl, how have you been! What is up! Oh my God! I
haven.t seen you in so long!" A woman wearing a brown leather jacket with
shoulder length hair and a large red pocket book said as she stutter stepped
towards Khevasiah. Khevasiah stood up to hug the woman.
"Girl, I am good! And you look good! I have missed you, what have you
been doing all this time!" Khevasiah responded excitedly.
"Girl, shit ain.t changed too much. I.m still with that crazy ass nigga..."
"Who, Stacks?"
"Yea, Eddie, we still together. We got two kids, a boy and a girl, and they
are so grown, girl, you should see them!"
"No way! You have kids? I wouldn.t believe it for a weekend! Good
Lord!"
"Well, how about you, you have any yet?" The woman asked.
"No...I.m not even there yet."
"What happened to you and what.s his name? He still beating that pussy
up good? He must be doing something cause your ass done got fat!"
Khevasiah hesitated. She looked in the direction of Junya, who was
looking off to the side as if he did not want to acknowledge the woman. The
woman soon turned suit and looked at Junya.
"Naika this is my boyfriend, Junya. Junya, this is Naika, one of my
friends that I grew up with when I was living out in the Bronx. Remember I told
you about her!"
Junya fixed his face in a way that made Khevasiah look guilty. He hated
when his woman is referred to in her past tense; talks of old boyfriends and
niggas she used to mess with.
He hoped that those days were long and over for
her.
"Nice to meet you...is it Na-eye-kah?"
"Nika, like Nike, but Naika...you know, just do it!"
"Oh I got you..."
Naika stood with a disappointed look on her face. She sat down and
poured her a glass of the expensive champagne. She looked Junya in the face to
get a better look as to who her long time girlfriend had found herself with. Junya
noticed that she had a rich chocolate skin and the lightest brown eyes.
