Allen smiled and sat back to listen to the rest of Pastor Brothers closing as he felt GOD had given him confirmation. Allen and Gwen left the church hand in hand as many of the church members looked on. None of them had seen Gwen with a man before so they put more attention on Gwen than anyone had in the past.
"So what did you think of the service?" Gwen asked Allen.
"I thought it was good. It felt just like home."
"Really!" Gwen said surprisingly.
"Why are you so surprised?" Allen asked smiling.
"Your response just caught me off guard. But I'm happy to know that
you were comfortable."
"Very comfortable. Thank you for the invite."
"Well, now that you've been, know that you have an open invitation."
"I will remember that."
They reached Gwen's car and discussed the rest of the days plan.
They were both hungry but neither had a taste for any of the others
suggestions. Allen suggested that they just go to Walter's house and
have breakfast there. Gwen agreed and asked Allen if he would prefer to
drive since he knew the way. Allen declined and told her that if he drove
he wouldn't be able to look at her and see all that he has waited for.
Gwen smiled and thanked Allen for seeing her as what he had been
waiting for.
They reached Walter's place right before kickoff of the first game.
Allen warned her that he and his boys were wild when they got together
and that she would hear them cursing and talking very loud. She
thanked him for the warning and reminded him that she was a big girl
now and he shouldn't worry about her. As always, the fellas were
gathered around the table eating and debating about which team was
going to do what to the other. Allen took the liberty to introduce Gwen to
Walter and Calorie who were engulfed in the pre-game show.
"Where is Cupid?" Allen asked as he pulled out a chair for Gwen to
sit in.
"He said something about running late because his girl had a friend
that she wanted Charles to meet and they were going to pick him up."
Walter answered.
"That's cool."
As Allen and Gwen got themselves settled with something to eat and
found a comfortable place to watch the game, the rest of the group
showed. Gigolo and Andreah walked in with Charles, Cupid, Tanya and
CJ behind them.
"Now the games can begin." Gigolo announced as he walked in.
"Nigga find a seat and shut up." Walter shouted as he reached for the
remote to turn the volume up on the television.
"What up bruh?" Gigolo said as he and Walter embraced.
"What up bruh?" Walter replied.
"Jones, my nigga, what up?" Gigolo said as he and Allen embraced.
"What up bruh." He responded. "This is Gwen." He said as he
introduced her to Gigolo.
"Nice to meet you Gwen," Gigolo extended his hand, "Jones talks very
highly of you."
"Nice to meet you as well. I hope all that you have heard I can stand
up to." She smiled.
"From where I'm standing, you are holding up fine."
"Well thank you and you don't seem to be holding up too badly
yourself." She said as she looked in Andreah's direction.
"Well, you know, Gigolos get lonely too." He said as he introduced
Andreah to Gwen and Allen.
