"Baby, you could know someone all your life, be married to them and
still never truly know them. I have never been one to place a time on
love or the time in which I am supposed to fall in love with someone. I
have learned to follow my heart and trust my gut."
"And what is your gut saying now?" Gwen asked shyly.
"It is saying that if we keep this up, I am not going to be celibate
anymore."
Allen and Gwen again looked deep into one another's eyes as if they
were communicating telepathically. Gwen stroked the right side of
Allen's face as she laid her head on his left shoulder. She felt
exceptionally protected in his arms and Gwen wanted Allen to know the
feelings she felt. She wanted to tell him that never before had she felt so
connected to a man in such a short time. She wanted to tell him that the
only thing that would stop her from accepting his love would be him.
She wanted him to know that his love momentarily caused no hurt in her
pain and she wanted him to know that she wanted it for a lifetime. She
wanted him to know all the feelings that her heart held, but her mind
insisted that her feelings were too immature for the length of their
relationship. Gwen held her feelings in, never said a word and never
letting Allen's embrace go. After sitting still for a few moments, they
received a call on the two-way radio to inform them that their ride was at
an end. Allen confirmed the call and the balloon began to descend.
"Thank you for an unforgettable day." Gwen said as they neared the
earth.
"You are more than welcome. Thank you for something that can
never be taken away."
"What is that?" Gwen asked as she stood.
"The memory of today." Allen replied.
Allen gathered all of their items and placed them in the picnic basket,
in an attempt of leaving the balloon as clean as it was upon their entry.
When they exited the balloon, a staff photographer who offered to take
their picture standing next to the balloon greeted them. They agreed to
the photo opportunity and decided to take two of them. As Allen gave the
information as to where the photos should be mailed, Gwen smiled while
thinking about the wonderful day she was having and the hope of it not
ending.
"I know that we only had lunch on the agenda today, but did you have
any other plans for the day?" She asked as they walked to the car.
"I didn't have any solid plans. I need to run a few errands, but
nothing solid. Why do you ask?"
"I just didn't want the day to end so soon."
"Well, like I said I just have errands to run, you can come along with
me if you like." Allen extended the offer.
"I would like that." Gwen accepted.
"Good. And by the way," Allen said as he opened Gwen's door, "if you
don't have any plans for tomorrow I would like for you to meet my boys.
They have been on me about not introducing you to them."
"I have to go to church in the morning and then I will be free. I can
meet you then."
"Church, that sounds good."
"Would you like to go with me?"
"I would love to go with you."
"This just keeps getting better and better." Gwen said as Allen began
to drive. "Well let me try pressing my luck even more."
"And how do you plan to do that?" Allen asked with a smile.
"One of my girlfriends is having a date auction on the 15th of
December to benefit the Breast Cancer Foundation and I told her that I
would participate. I wanted to know if you would come and support it by
bidding on me."
"December 15th you can consider yourself bought. Besides, my
mother just beat breast cancer, how could I tell you no?"
"I am happy to hear that. Maybe one day I will be able to meet your
mother and thank her for raising you so well."
"You never know. You never know."
