"Girl, ain't it bout' time you found a man?" Jes asked Gwen, as they
sat on the sofa talking over a cup of coffee.
"See Jes, that's the difference in me and you, you keep looking for a
man to enter your life and I keep waiting for a man to enter my life. You
keep looking and I'll keep patiently waiting."
"Girl," Jes said with sarcasm, "you keep waiting and your patient ass
is gon' be lonely."
"Jes, what would I get out of looking for a man? I don't see what you
get out of looking for a man."
"An orgasm," Jes answered quickly. "Gwen you're twenty-nine, you
ain't had sex in over a year. You've only had sex with one man in your
life and you were with him for seven years; you can't tell me that dick
didn't get stale."
The two share a laugh then Jes is suddenly struck with the sense of
urgency.
"Girl what time is it, I need to get dressed?"
"Eight o'clock."
Jes rose from the sofa as a child not willing to get out of bed for
school and headed for the stereo to get extra energy for her drudgery at
hand. Gwen sat on the sofa in a daze as Jes unknowingly held a small
conversation with herself.
"Girl it ain't nuthin' like some booty music when you gettin' ready to
deal with a world full of assholes. Gwen," Jes said as she glanced over at
her comatose stricken friend. "Gwen have you heard a word I said or are
you in that world that is never going to come?"
Gwen didn't respond. She was in that world; the world she knew
would come. The world she went to when others didn't understand her
requirement for true love and antecedent relationships had gone sour
and the hurt that lingered brought pain. Well in this world, there was no
hurt, in her pain.
"Well Ms. Dream come true," Jes said while putting on her jacket, "I'm
on my way to work, I'll see you later."
Jes walked to the door reflecting on what she had said. With the
booty music still playing and Gwen in her world, Jes say's a
compassionate bye.
Gwen was a defense attorney at Cochran and Associates. She was in
the top five of the current associates running to become the next partner
in the firm. Gwen sat for a moment to think of the week at hand. It was
a beautiful Monday, she had the week off, and a lot of the day left. To the
beat of the music Jes left playing, Gwen began to imitate Jes. Shaking
her breast the way Jes would. Moving her hips side to side as if she were
being electrocuted. With a hearty laugh, Gwen decided this music and
dance was not for her.
She replaced the CD with the dulcet sound of
Babyface. As the CD played, Gwen ran water for a bubble bath. As she
poured the creamy liquid into the tub, she inhaled the fresh smell of
peaches. Gwen slowly removed her robe and began fantasizing about the
day there would be a man to take her robe off of her body. Gwen could
feel the strong hands of a man clutching her athletic thighs; him slowly
wrapping her body with his strong arms while kissing the sides of her
neck. As Gwen's robe dropped to the floor, she could feel herself being
lifted into the tub by her man of fantasy.
