CJ hung up the phone with Gwen after getting the directions to Split Endz. She, Gwen and Tanya were planning a girl's night out and they were all meeting at the shop to get their hair done. CJ quickly dressed in a blue cotton sweat suit and white Nike tennis shoes before calling Tanya to inform her that she was on her way. She and Tanya had worked out arrangements to meet at Tanya's place and ride together to save time since neither of them truly knew where they were going. Tanya had three tickets to the nine o'clock show for Sade's concert and offered to take Gwen and CJ. The girls decided not to only go to the concert, but to make a complete day of it.
They made plans to have lunch and do a little
shopping after their hair appointments. With the concert being held at
the Staples Center, the girls thought they would have dinner at Le Dome
on Sunset Boulevard then make the short drive to the venue. After the
concert, they discussed going to listen to the Polyester Players at Luna
Park, but since the ideas conception, no one had agreed with it. CJ
reached Tanya's place at 9:30am and blew her horn to alert her to her
arrival. Tanya came out immediately and the girls were on their way.
They drove La Brea to Washington and Washington to Crenshaw.
"Do you know where you're going?" Tanya asked CJ who seemed to
be looking for an address.
"Yes, I know where I am going." She replied as she continued to drive
on Crenshaw. "Gwen said that it was on Crenshaw. She said that it was
a few blocks past Washington."
"But did she say which way on Washington?" Tanya asked as she
reached for the instructions.
"No I assumed that it was this way because she said past
Washington."
Tanya looked over the instructions as CJ continued driving. She took
notice of the numbered address written on the small piece of paper.
"Girl what school did you say you graduated from? You are way off.
The shop is the other way. "
"No it's not, I'm sure it is this way and Taft High School was the
bomb." CJ said defending her education.
"Just like a man, can't accept being wrong when it comes to driving.
Girl I'll tell you, Cupid has that bad. Always knowing the right way to go,
but somehow we always end up lost."
CJ continued to drive despite continued request to turn around from
Tanya. Eventually, CJ realized that Split Endz had to be the other way
because she didn't remember Gwen saying anything about the shop
being in Westchester.
The girls reached Split Endz close to 11:00am. As they pulled up,
they saw Gwen getting out of her car. CJ blew her horn to let Gwen
know that they were there.
"So you two made it?" Gwen said as Tanya and CJ got out of the car.
"What, you thought we wouldn't? It was a breeze," CJ said.
"Yeah a breeze," Tanya said as she laughed at CJ.
"I take it you had problems finding the place?"
"Problems," Tanya said, "that is putting it lightly. I think we had a
little flash of testosterone behind the wheel this morning."
"Well," CJ said as she hugged Gwen, I felt a little manly today."
The girls made their verbal exchanges and headed into the shop.
Gwen took the liberty of reintroducing CJ and Tanya to Gigi and the rest
of the shop hands before sitting in the chair to have her hair done. Gigi
instructed Derrick to begin washing and conditioning the girl's hair as
well as place them under the hair dryer while she finished with another
client. Tanya and CJ relieved themselves of their personal items and
followed Derrick to the back of the shop while Gwen stayed and talked to
Gigi.
