No Hurt In My Pain

CJ listened to Gwen and at the same time the pain...

CJ listened to Gwen and at the same time the pain that had caressed her over the last few months tore her apart inside.

"You know," CJ spoke with a smile, "it feels good to vent."
"You're right about that, but I thought we were going to listen to happy music?"
"Girl, the CD's are right there,"
CJ said while wiping her eyes,
"I'm going to make us some splits."

Gwen took off her shoes and looked through the CD's.

"Girl what do you know about Sam Cooke?"
Gwen asked CJ.
"I know that Rome wasn't built in a day and I don't really think he knew Cupid on a first name basis,"
CJ said as they both broke out into a loud laugh. "Now see this is what we need to be listening to,"
Gwen said. "What CD is that?"
"You will know when it comes on."

Gwen put the CD in the player and walked to the kitchen to help CJ with their banana splits. While Gwen got the ice cream out of the freezer, the music began to play.

"Ooo,"
CJ said,
"I don't see nothin' wrong with a little bump n' grind either. Hell, it's been so long I wouldn't see nothin' wrong with a little tongue action."
"See, that's just what you were talking about earlier today." "Yeah, but remember what my mama told me," CJ responded as the girls broke into laughter again.

Once the girls had finished making their banana splits, they went out onto the balcony to eat and talk.

"CJ, I didn't have a chance to tell you, but I live in that beige house, second from the corner."
"No you don't!" CJ said with excitement.
"Yes I do."
"This world is so very big until you meet someone that you've never known before and they have always been in your world."
"So very true."
Gwen said as she dug into her banana split. "So,"
CJ asked, "do you have a boyfriend?"
"Not anymore."
"Did you have one?"
"Yes, but he was a fool. But then again, I was with him for seven years, so I guess I was the real fool."
"Were you faithful to him?"
"Yes!" Gwen said surprisingly, "I most certainly was."
"Was he faithful to you?"
"I'd like to think so. But who can tell?"
"Do you think you two will ever be together again?"
"Well let me say it this way. You can't waste time loving someone who doesn't deserve your love. At the same time you can't keep doors closed, because love doesn't always have a key." "So basically no?"
"Not a chance."
