Having being put in place, the two men walk away in silence. Once the men were out of ear range the girls break out in laughter as Gwen reminds CJ about the day they met.
"Girl it never seems to end,"
Gwen spoke.
"Fake niggas,"
CJ replied,
"will be around forever. And did you catch
the one about 'I was just so beautiful that he couldn't help himself?' Oh
please, he could have helped himself to some Altoids."
"Ooo altoids kill anything, was his breath that bad?"
As the girls continued with their comic session, Ricardo brought their
order.
"What did I miss out on, or am I the joke?" Ricardo asked.
"Oh nothing," CJ replied as she finished her laugh.
"Well here is your meal, if you need anything let me know. You know
you just have to wink,"
Ricardo told CJ.
"I know sweetie,"
CJ responded.
"Girl,"
Gwen said,
"you do come here a lot don't you?"
"No, I used to come a lot, but that was when I was in love. Now that
the fool who tried to love me, misused the love he tried to give, it has
stopped me from coming as often as we once did."
"I know what you mean," Gwen said sympathetically.
As the girls began to dig into their food, Gwen's cellular phone rings.
"Excuse me," Gwen said to CJ with a mouth full of lettuce. "Hello.
Oh hey where are you?"
CJ continued to eat as Gwen dealt with the phone call.
"Oh Jes, I'll probably be out late tonight, so don't wait up. I'll give you
a call a little later to let you know where I am. OK, well you be careful.
Say me. Bye."
Gwen hung up the phone and once again attempts to eat her salad,
when CJ asked her if that was her boyfriend.
"Oh no girl, Jes is my roommate."
"Oh, what's Jes short for, Jessie?"
"Girl no," Gwen replied with laughter, "Jes is short for Jessica and if
you want to know if I have a boyfriend, just ask."
"No, I wasn't trying to see if you had a boyfriend, I was trying to see if
your boyfriend had a friend, for your friend."
Again the girls break into laughter.
"So did you still want to go to the movies Gwen?"
"That sounds like a good idea, but I have to warn you."
"Warn me about what?"
"About the fact that I am a true black woman,"
Gwen said,
"and I will
fall asleep after I eat this salad."
