Tanya went on to introduce several of the participants, one after another including a set of twin brothers and a set of twin sisters. Throughout the show, those who had already participated in the event were sitting with their respective dates in an attempt of getting to know one another a little before their night out.
"You know you have to always save the best for last," Tanya said as
she prepared to introduce Gwen. "Next up is Gwen," she began with the
write up as Gwen walked onto the stage, "is she a prize or what? Gwen
is a Partner at one of LAs most prestigious law firms. Gwens biggest
goal in her five-year plan is managing her own law firm.
She appreciates
the value of working hard and all that it brings, but she drives to do that
work for herself. Gwens passion is love of and for one another but none
more importantly than the love of self. She is a beautiful woman who
never turns down those in need and understands the value in giving of
yourself until it hurts. Where shall we start the bidding for this rare
find? Shall we say one hundred dollars?"
Placard after placard went up for Gwens company, with the bid
increasing by one hundred dollars each time. The bidding began to slow
when it reached thirty five hundred dollars. There were four gentlemen
trying to out bid one another by making tactical bids. One would
increase the bid hoping it would discourage the others from bidding. As
the bidding reached the $4000.00 mark, two of the men dropped out of
the bidding. With two candidates left, Gwen walked back and forth
across the stage to give both men an opportunity to see her better. As
Gwen got closer to the first candidate, her stock increased by $250.00.
She turned and walked toward the other gentleman who was not going to
be outdone by another man. Without hesitation, he raised his placard
and shouted $5500.00. Gwen covered her mouth as the gentleman that
was sure to be her date winked at her. She walked back to the other end
of the stage to show the other gentleman what he was going to be
missing out on if he didnt bid. As Gwen walked, Tanya began the count
down and the clock of opportunity was running out on bidding. Going
twice Tanya said slowly giving the opportunity to bid.
"Sixty five hundred dollars," the opponent said as he raised his
placard.
The crowd murmured over the bid as everyone looked in the direction
of the previous bidder who had sat back in his chair and accepted the
defeat. Again Tanya began the slow countdown giving all an opportunity
to bid. When she reach the going twice mark, a bid of $9,854.27 was
made from a gentleman standing behind a wall in the back of the room
waiving a piece of paper. The entire room turned to see who had placed
the bid. Tanya again began to close the bidding, but this time with no
other bids.
"Sold to the gentleman in the back of the room, but it would have
been nice if you had a numbered placard."
"Well, I was hoping that this receipt would help me to make a deposit
on forever," Allen said as he walked from behind a wall where he stood.
