Then she thought of the blessing that GOD had given to her. She realized that she would still have her life. Helen called and broke the news to Steven, who was back working full time, but taking time off during the month to attend Helen's chemo appointments. She told him that she had been given another chance and she didn't want to waste one moment of it. Steven agreed and told her that he would be getting off early and he would be bringing home dinner for the two of them. Lailahni, who was back working full time also, continued to pay regular visits to Helen and Steven and help whenever they called.
Steven arrived home with food from Helen's favorite restaurant,
Jordan's. Steven placed the food on the kitchen counter and washed his
hands. He smiled at the setting in the dining room as he stood in the
doorway. Helen lit candles around the dining room and played a Charlie
Parker and Miles Davis "Together" CD, a song called "Be Bop", played to
secure a romantic mood.
She placed a bottle of white wine on the table
and single red roses that she picked from her garden on top of their
plates. She also placed petals of roses in their wine glasses. In Steven's
bowl she placed a bottle of vanilla bean massage oil for her to give him a
massage and in his chair a black sexy sheer nightgown for her. In her
bowl she placed a brush for him to brush her hair and in her chair she
placed a pair of silk boxers for him to wear. While the music played
softly, Steven began to dance in circles by himself. He held his hands as
if he were dancing with a partner. He moved swiftly and quietly.
"Do you remember this song?" Helen asked.
"How could you ask me a question like that?" Steven asked as he
continued to glide across the floor.
"For me to forget this song means
that I have forgotten the day that I began to be loved by you. Yes I
remember this song. This is the song that was playing on the jukebox
the day that we met."
"I thought it would be nice if we went back to that day."
"Baby, I will go anywhere that you say go, even if it was hell. Simply
cause I trust you that much and I know that you would never leave me
there alone."
Helen stood and placed her hands in Steven's hands and her head on
his chest and the two of them danced until the song ended.
"Now that we have gotten our groove on, can you tell me what all this
is?" Steven asked curiously.
"Well I thought we would get our groove on in another way tonight, if
you know what I mean?"
"Oh I know what you mean. Do we have to eat dinner first? Can't we
just go right to dessert?"
"Well I'm happy to know that I can still make your mouth water"
"Woman you make my mouth water every time I see your face.
Everytime I hear your voice. Everytime I think about the way you love
me. Helen I may not tell you this enough, hell I may have never told you
this, but I am so proud to have you as my best friend and life partner."
"Thank you Steven, that means so much to me. I am proud to be
your life partner and your best friend."
